Congratulations to Dining Services who are winners of the March Circle of Excellence Award for their use of the Dining Services Continuity Plan during the Skirball Fire.
Kitchens lost power and the availability of staff was limited due to road closures, but thanks to the exemplary planning efforts of Dining Services, meal service continued for over 15,000 residents and staff and they were able to go above and beyond the call of duty to provide meals to first responders. They deployed a modified menu plan, created a streamlined process for safely handling donated food, and used existing job rotations to fill empty positons. Thanks to their hard work, creativity, and planning everyone was kept well fed and operations continued.
